Images taken during the summer photoshoots and the Summer outing to the Black Country Living Museum will be viewed and judged by the membership, with the winning print and projected image entries receiving a small trophy.
The second part of the evening will provide members with the opportunity to show their work and generally discuss photographic issues.

The Mayor of RWB, Councillor Steve Watts will present the trophies which were won during the previous season. After a refreshment break, the Travelling Prints from the Western Counties Photographic Federation will be viewed

The Uffington White Horse is a highly stylised prehistoric hill figure, 110 m long, formed from deep trenches filled with crushed white chalk. The figure is situated on the upper slopes of White Horse Hill in the English civil parish of Uffington, some 8 km south of the town of Faringdon and a similar distance west of the town of Wantage; or 2.5 km south of Uffington. The hill forms a part of the scarp of the Berkshire Downs and overlooks the Vale of White Horse to the north.

If weather permits it is planned to do some astro-photography. If it clouds over then a sunset shoot instead

A day shoot in the Bohemian area of Stokes Croft: a vibrant Community in the heart of Bristol. The area has pioneered a liberal attitude towards street art, and is working towards an alternative to conventional top down government.

Castle Combe has been called 'The Prettiest Village in England' and with good reason; visitors have been coming to enjoy its charms for at least a century and the small street leading from the Market Cross down to the By Brook is as picturesque today as it ever was.
The site of the castle is above today’s village, but little other than earthworks now mark its one time presence. Originally it was a British hill fort which became occupied by the Romans due to its proximity to The Fosse Way. After the Romans, came the Normans, who built the fort up into a Castle.

By the Middle Ages the village in the valley had become an important centre for the wool industry. The spinsters and weavers lived in the cottages (hence names such as "Weaver’s House") and the river, still known as By Brook, provided the power to run the mills.
In more recent times the village has played host to many filming activities, the most famous of these being ‘Doctor Doolittle’ filmed in and around the village in 1966. More recently the village has had a major role in 'War Horse', 'Stardust','The Wolf Man' and an advert for Solvil et Titus.
The village houses are all of typical Cotswold type, constructed in stone with thick walls and roofs made from split natural stone tiles. The properties are many hundreds of years old and are listed as ancient monuments. Strict rules apply to preserve the beauty and character of Castle Combe for later generations to admire.

Parking is rigorously enforced in the village and tickets issued. There is a public car park 0.4 miles away up the hill.


The Castle Inn is the obvious choice for some late evening refreshment

Head towards Lotmead Farm then continue along to the Business Park.
We have arranged for some of the farm machinery exhibits to be uncovered to facilitate more meaningful images to be obtained.
There are several hostelries in the Wanborough vicinity and the Cross Keys is on the route back to Swindon

This exquisitely beautiful and fascinating thirteenth-century church stands on a gentle rise of land above waterside meadows near the Thames, only a stone's throw from the Thames, and just off the Ridgeway Path it is a frequent stopping point for walkers.

Our first photoshoot during the summer recess is at Wilton windmill. There is free parking nearby and whilst access inside the windmill is not allowed outside opening hours, there are plenty of interesting photographic angles to explore. Meet at the windmill at 7.30 pm.
