The Club has a number of competitions each year, which help us to continually improve our photography. We also have a number of battles with other local camera clubs.
The competition secretaries are:
Robert Slade – Digitally projected competitions secretary.
Peter Hodgson – Print competitions secretary.
In the current season, our scoring system for the monthly competitions is “Scoring System 2: Places and Commendations” (see the club competition rules for details).
In our monthly competitions members are currently permitted to enter two digital images and two mounted prints.
At the end of the season the “Annual Competitions” are held. These are listed as follows:
The Mayor’s Cup – Prints: Awarded for the highest score totalled over the season’s monthly print competitions.
The Mayor’s Cup – Digitally Projected: Awarded for the highest score totalled over the season’s monthly digitally projected competitions.
Open Trophy – Prints: Awarded for the best print in the open category of the annual competition. A maximum of THREE entries per member are permitted in this competition.
Open Trophy – Digitally Projected: Awarded for the best digitally projected image in the open category of the annual competition. A maximum of THREE entries per member are permitted in this competition.
Action Trophy – Prints: A print competition with a set subject of “Action”. A maximum of THREE entries per member are permitted in this competition.
Action Trophy – Digitally Projected: A digitally projected competition with a set subject of “Action”. A maximum of THREE entries per member are permitted in this competition.
Portraits Trophy – President’s Cup – Prints: A print competition with a set subject of “Portrait”. This trophy was presented to the club by L. S. Waugh. A maximum of THREE entries per member are permitted in this competition.
Portraits Trophy – Chairman’s Cup – Digitally Projected: A digitally projected competition with a set subject of “Portrait”. This trophy was presented to the club by Dario Algieri. A maximum of THREE entries per member are permitted in this competition.
Shield – Best Print in Annual Competition: Awarded for the best print across all annual competitions (Open, Action and Portrait).
Shield – Best Digitally Projected Image in Competition – The Steve Waugh Memorial Shield: Awarded for the best digitally projected image across all annual competitions (Open, Action and Portrait).
Summer Competition – Prints: Awarded for the best print of an image taken during the summer outings. This trophy was presented to the club by Andrew Purdy. A maximum of SIX entries per member are permitted in this competition.
Summer Competition – Digitally Projected: Awarded for the best digitally projected image taken during the summer outings. This trophy was presented to the club by Andrew Purdy. A maximum of SIX entries per member are permitted in this competition.
