Presentation – Great Western Cameras – May 22nd 2018

As has become a customary part of our annual programme, the Club enjoyed the support of Great Western Cameras in Swindon who organised a presentation from an equipment supplier. In this case, Hamel, from Vitec Imaging Solutions Division, ably demonstrated the versatility of Lastolite lighting equipment by Manfrotto and assembled a studio lighting set for portrait photography. This comprised a collapsible, double sided urban screen which was hung from magnetic mounts on two telescopic lighting stands. Two Ezybox speed lites were used to illuminate the model and experimentation carried out to see the effect of fabric diffusers, grids and gel filters to give various creative effects. Club members were encouraged to try different lighting arrangements to explore and appreciate the influence upon the final image.

The overall quality of the equipment and its simplicity in setting up was impressive. Many thanks to Ian from Great Western Cameras for organising the evening on our behalf.
