Tuition Evening – Tuesday 13th September 2016

In the absence of any specific requests from the membership, a two part evening was organised. Firstly Robert Slade gave an excellent presentation that covered the basics of photography and illustrated the relationship between aperture settings, depth of field, shutter speed and focusing processes. He then moved onto exploring various techniques and compositional factors that helped to create more impactful, visually inspiring and hopefully unique images.

In the second half, Andrew Purdy shared his energetic and enthusiastic approach to the topics of 1) understanding the legal rights of the photographer and how to deal with situations when challenged about taking images and 2) an introduction to using ‘layers’ in image processing software packages and how they can be utilised to create enhanced images and add creative effects.
