Open Competition #1 – November 7th 2017

Our first main competition of the new season was judged by Sandie Cox, from Tetbury Camera Club. Sandie has visited our Club on several occasions and her sharp eye for detail, coupled with constructive comments and helpful suggestions on ways to enhance images were valuable inputs.

The print competition attracted a relatively small number of entries and the winning submission was  ” A Yorkshire Dale” by Barry Davis. Second place went to “In flight meal” by Dave Garmont and 3rd place was awarded to “Blea Tarn” by Barry Davis. Sandie commented that landscapes were not her strongest photographic category, despite knowing the general rules and techniques that needed to be followed.

After tea break, the digital projected images were viewed which covered many genres and styles. The winning submission was an amusing street scene entitled ” For Rent” by Rob Slade, who also picked up second place with his “Photo-shoot” image. Third place went to “Pause for breath” by Geoff Snowball.
