Earlier in the year than previous showings, the Club members enjoyed the compilation of audio-visual presentations that had been submitted to this years annual WCPF AV competition.

As expected, there was a wide range of subjects and styles on show and in the first part of the evening, those runner-up and commended presentations were shown. The evening concluded with the winning entries in the Short category (less than 4 minutes), Long category (between 4 and 12 minutes), Photo-harmony and finally the Innovation category. Each presentation was preceded by some brief pre-recorded comments from the competition judge on the content, structure and various techniques used.

The Long category AV winner was “The Fallen” which was a very moving tribute to the brave men and women who had fought for their country. It made extensive use of ceramic poppy images taken at The Tower of London and the Shrouds of the Somme figures. The Innovation AV award went to “Kaleidoscopic Stourhead” which featured many of the classical images of Stourhead through the seasons with some highly impressive transitions to kaleidoscopic images.

We have an AV evening in May 2018 and hopefully the evenings viewing had enthused and stimulated the attendees to go off and start preparing their AVs to share with the Club at a later date.
