Presentation – January 30th 2018

The Club enjoyed an informative and entertaining presentation entitled “Now you see it, now you don’t” by Martin Cooper from Stroud, who was ably assisted by Linda.  Martin started with colour images of many stunning landscapes, the majority of which had been taken during the winter months in Scotland. He then showed some monochrome images, including some very powerful images taken during a visit to Auschwitz. The use of monochrome fitted the subject matter very appropriately and served to reinforce the horror of the events that had taken place.

After tea break Martin showed a delightful range of imaginative images that had been achieved through intentional camera movement, creating an impressionistic quality and feel to the images. Creative use of software which combined a number of similar images also produced some very pleasing results in a number of very different environments including forests, seascapes and train stations. A number of prints were displayed which often created a stronger impact than the corresponding DPI.

One of the messages from the evening was to be adventurous and experiment with different techniques……you never know what the outcome could be!
