The meeting provided club members with an interesting talk on a potentially controversial and even heretical topic – namely Tripodless photography. Prof Bob Ryan and his partner Alison Price showed a succession of their images taken in this way. Firstly they demonstrated the artistic effects that could be produced by using a slow shutter speed on a handheld camera. The main part of the talk however focussed on their wildlife photography in various continents which featured evidence of several potentially injurious or even lethal encounters with wild animals.  A definite case of Do Not Try This At Home. The presentation was greatly enhanced by their use of an Audio-Visual slide-show format to display the images with some well-chosen background music selections.”
