Our “old friend” Eddy Lane judged the entries for our second competition of the 17/18 season and was accompanied by Clive Greenfield from Corsham CC, who is a newly qualified judge. As usual Eddy provided constructive comments on each image and added his own suggestions on how to enhance the images. These included standardising on 40 cm x 30 cm sized mounts to create space around the print, the choice of paper used for prints and varying the perspective of the photographer to maximise impact. He felt that some images would benefit from a little more processing to bring out missing detail and suggested cropping options that could be tried.

The winning print was “Tree Creeper” by Dave Garmont and the winning DPI was “The Splash” by Geoff Snowball.

After the judging was completed, Eddy showed some wildlife prints taken on his travels, mainly to cold climates.
